SCAN, Shan Commongood Active Network, will function as a Support, Research, Information and Advice Network. It is based on the concept of promoting the commongood amongst peoples of the Shan State so that they can develop good understanding of each other’s feelings and bring them closer, and also for them to realise that they are not alone. We are together in our struggle for honour, truth, justice and freedom.   

The concept of Commongood requires caring for others as well as ourselves, thus giving us a good feeling, or in other words a great happiness. It advocates a kind of fellow-feeling for others and provides us with a sense of  belonging, that in itself increases a good feeling and reduces our isolation. Shan society desperately needs to accept the commongood so unite its efforts to achieve success whatever its goal.

We must think of a new vision of how we can live and work together in harmony, both as social beings and in terms of our inner spirit. Solidarity is a way of collectively defending oneself and a way of surviving.
